Our Mission

The National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) strives to create an inclusive community that supports the professional development of Black chemists and chemical engineers. Our UTK chapter embraces this mission by cultivating a welcoming space for students, post‑docs and professionals to collaborate, mentor and grow.

History & Legacy

NOBCChE was founded in 1972 by a dedicated group of chemists and chemical engineers. The organization’s goal is to increase the number of minorities in science, technology and engineering fields【91189105206111†L138-L146】. Our UTK chapter was established to extend this legacy on campus, creating opportunities for Black students and allies to connect, grow and excel.

Over the years, our chapter has hosted networking sessions with industry leaders, provided travel awards for national conferences and supported outreach activities in local schools. We continue to build on this legacy and invite you to be a part of our journey.
